The Town is notifying residents and visitors that a sanitary sewer overflow occurred on Sunday, September 13, 2026, resulting in a discharge exceeding 5,000 gallons. The overflow entered the Saluda River.
Town staff responded to the incident and have taken corrective actions to address the overflow. Water quality sampling is being conducted over the next several days to monitor E. coli levels in the affected area of the river.
Until further notice, the public is advised to use caution when coming into contact with river water in the affected area, including avoiding swimming, wading, or other recreational activities that involve direct contact with the water.
